Gas prices go up, but crack prices REMAIN THE SAME

So a few months ago, I flew directly from Nashville to Atlanta and back for a cost of ~$105. Now, the cheapest rount-trip direct flight listed from now through January is $560. Direct one-way is $370. To get any cheaper, you have to submit to the itenerary of HATE. Compare:

(1h01) Nashville -> Atlanta
total: 1h01, $359.70

versus

(1h09) Nashville -> Cincinatti
(0h31) layover
(1h43) Cincinatti -> Kansas City
(0h43) layover
(1h59) Kansas City -> Atlanta
total: 6h20, $175.60

Now, this is where it gets AWESOME:

(1h10) Nashville -> Atlanta
(1h00) layover
(5h12) Atlanta -> Seattle
total: 7h22, $143.40

So apparently, the market value of a flight from Atlanta to Seattle is NEGATIVE $216.30. I fucking love air market economics so much, I am creating a little mountain of gallstones as I type.

It's part of Seattle's tourism strategy.

Seriously - do the first leg, don't check luggage, and leave the airport.

This will only work if you're just going one way. If you intend to pull this trick on the return trip, you'll find yourself stuck in Atlanta.
